How To Download Facebook Stories

What FBGrab does

A Facebook story lives for 24 hours and then it is gone. FBGrab works on stories that are publicly shareable, usually those posted by pages or by profiles that allow story sharing, and returns the photo or video exactly as it was posted.

Steps to Download from Mobile App:

Open the story you want while it is still live.
Tap the three dots or the share icon and choose Copy Link — if no link option appears, that story is not shareable.
Paste the link above and press Download without waiting.
Check the preview — stories can be a photo or a short video.
Save the file before the 24 hours run out.

What works / what does not

What works

Public page stories and profile stories that offer a share link
Both photo stories and video stories with their audio
Stories that are still live at the moment you paste the link

What does not work

Stories from private accounts or limited to close friends
Stories that already expired — after 24 hours nothing remains to fetch
Stories with no share option, which means the owner disabled sharing

Timing note: story links stay valid for a short window only. If a link stops working, open the story again and copy a fresh link.

Facebook Story Downloader Before It Expires

Stories are the one thing on Facebook you cannot come back to later, which is why a facebook story downloader is worth having ready before you need it. Saving your own story keeps a copy of something Facebook deletes for you after a day.

FBGrab handles public photo and video stories from the browser on any device, with no login and no app. If the content you want is a permanent post instead, use our video downloader, reel downloader or photo downloader.

Is FBGrab Safe to Use?

We never ask for your Facebook login.
Everything runs in your browser.
Private and restricted content is not supported.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I download a story after it expires?

No. Facebook removes expired stories from its servers, so there is no file left for any tool to reach. Save a story while it is still live.

Will the person see that I downloaded their story?

Downloading itself is invisible, because FBGrab never signs in to any account. Note that Facebook does show the owner who viewed a story, so opening it in your own app is what leaves a trace.

Why does the download stop working after a few minutes?

Story links are signed and expire quickly by design. Copy the link again from the live story and paste it once more.

Are photo stories and video stories both supported?

Yes. The preview shows which one the link holds, and the button gives you a JPG for a photo story or an MP4 for a video story.
